About this blog:
This blog is the result of my obsession with the natural world. I started off sharing the stories of my birdwatching adventures around Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula. The more I adventured, the more I fell in love with.I became fascinated by bugs. I started wanting to identify lichen and sundew. My love of nature became an obsession.
This blog is a result of that obsession. Sometimes it will be boring. I’m transitioning from citizen scientist to environmental science student, so may get nerdy at times.
I document as much as I can about the natural world around me and try to share what I’ve learned on my Projects page. This is where I group themed posts together, such as my posts about the recovery of a bush block that had been burned.
Hi, I’m Jade!
When I was a kid, I was obsessed with parrots. I would memorize their scientific names and tried to see as many as possible. I fell out of that obsession until my mid twenties. I was at a Gold Coast beach with a friend when she pointed out a bush stone curlew. “I used to be obsessed with birds!” I thought. Since then, I’ve rekindled that obsession.
I’ve had severe anxiety so have been limited in the places I’ve been able to visit. It means I’ve gotten to know my favourite areas quite well. Sometimes I venture alone, sometimes with friends or family. I love taking my time and seeing the nuances that most people just walk past.
